Investigation of Soil and Groundwater at Superfund Landfill

Greenstar is the environmental consultant managing a hazardous waste site. The landfill was used in the 1950ís and 1960ís to dispose of a variety of waste materials produced at a nearby chemical factory. Groundwater contains high concentrations of VOC and several additional sites are located adjacent nearby which influence site conditions. Several groundwater plumes are intermingled and threaten the nearby Tennessee River. The site is overseen by the US EPA and has numerous Potentially Responsible Parties (PRPs). The landfill remedy includes a low permeability cap, leachate collection wells and long term monitoring. Greenstar has completed a detailed assessment of the geology and contaminant distribution in groundwater which included a detailed statistical assessment and use of membrane interface probe and electrical conductivity logging for rapid delineation of site impacts.
